Aegean Volcanic Arc

Regarding the Internet, information about the volcanic arc is provided based on two criteria:

• Presentation of Aegean Culture. The Archipelago, due to its position between three continents - Europe, Asia, and Africa - has been a crossroads of civilizations, a point where different cultures met and influenced each other, thus contributing to the creation of a unique culture, the Aegean Culture.
• Presentation of the geotectonic evolution of the volcanic region of the Aegean with a focus on volcanic activity during the Miocene (over the last 20 million years). Both the island of Lesvos and Santorini and Milos are representative samples of islands located in the still active volcanic arc of the Aegean.
