Publications - Conference Participations

In July 2006, an event was held to present the AVATON system as part of the summer events of the Museum, in anticipation of the installation and experimental operation of the system in the Petrified Forest. Representatives of all Mass Media of Lesvos (Newspapers, ERT, Local Television Stations, Radio Stations) participated in the event, along with relevant publications.
The article by P. Kalliaras, A. Sotiriou, S. Zoi, I. Karygiannis, N. Farandouris, N. Mitrοu titled "The AVATON Architecture: Location-Based Multimedia Services for Tourists" was presented at the 2nd International Conference of Information & Communication Technology (ICICT 2004) "Multimedia Services and Underlying Network Infrastructure" held on December 6-7, 2004, in Cairo, Egypt. The article was honored with the Best Paper Award.
Furthermore, the project was presented in poster form at the 5th International Symposium "Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP)", held on July 19-21, at the University of Patras, Greece.
Finally, the project results were presented at the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) event titled "Research & Technology Days", held in Athens, June 22-23, 2006.
